No Bus Bias
- Disconnect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 3 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to step 3 .
- Measure voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 11 (White/Black wire). If voltage is not 2.3-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.3-2.6 volts, replace scan tool cable or scan tool. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Ensure ignition is on. Remove fuse No. 9 (10-amp) from junction block. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and fused ignition switch output terminal (White/Black wire) on junction block fuse No. 9. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 5 .
- Remove instrument cluster. Reinstall fuse No. 9. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 8 (White/Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in White/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove junction block fuse No. 9. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and fused ignition switch output terminal (White/Black wire) on junction block fuse No. 9. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Black wire and replace fuse No. 9. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output terminal (Dark Blue wire) on junction block fuse No. 9. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Dark Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
