No Response From Remote Keyless Entry
NOTE:
On vehicles equipped with Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC), Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module is located in rear of overhead console. On vehicles not equipped with electronic compass, RKE module is part of mini-dome light. CMTC is also referred to as overhead console.
- Disconnect RKE module connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect a jumper wire between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 6 (Violet/Brown wire). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then SYSTEM TEST. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, go to next step. If scan tool displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open in Violet/Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Ensure ignition is on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire between RKE module and junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and Black wires at RKE module connector terminals No. 3 and No. 9. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between RKE module and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Connect a jumper wire between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 12 (White/Black wire). Using scan tool, perform BUS TEST. If scan tool displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If scan tool displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open in White/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
