Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displays OC
- Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Connect a jumper wire between connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Observe Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) display. If CMTC does not display SC, go to next step. If CMTC displays SC, replace ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect CMTC connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect jumper wires between ground and each terminal of ambient temperature sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and CMTC connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Light Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- With jumper wires still connected, measure resistance at CMTC connector terminal No. 10 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace CMTC module. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
