Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displays OC

  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Connect a jumper wire between connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Observe Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) display. If CMTC does not display SC, go to next step. If CMTC displays SC, replace ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect CMTC connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Connect jumper wires between ground and each terminal of ambient temperature sensor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and CMTC connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Light Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. With jumper wires still connected, measure resistance at CMTC connector terminal No. 10 (Black/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace CMTC module. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
