Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displays SC

  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Turn ignition on. Observe Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) display. If CMTC does not display OC, go to next step. If CMTC displays OC, replace ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMTC connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and CMTC connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Light Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is 25 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 25 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Measure resistance at terminal No. 10 (Black/Light Blue wire) on CMTC connector. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Light Blue wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace CMTC module. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
