Grand Cherokee

  1. Shift transmission into Park. Remove gear selector bezel and floor console as necessary for access to gearshift cable adjustment screw. Loosen gearshift cable adjustment screw. Adjustment screw is located in slot at end of gearshift cable. See Fig 1 .
  2. Raise vehicle. Unsnap gearshift cable eyelet from transmission shift lever. Move shift lever fully rearward. Ensure transmission is in Park by attempting to rotate drive shaft. Snap cable eyelet onto transmission shift lever. Lower vehicle.
  3. Tighten gearshift cable adjustment screw to 65 INCH lbs. (7 N.m). Verify adjustment by attempting to start engine in Park and Neutral. Adjustment is okay if engine starts in Park and Neutral and does not start in any other gear position. Install gear selector bezel and floor console.
