Sentry Key Immobilizer System

Anti-theft system is an optional feature. System is called Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS). System features a Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), which is designed to provide passive protection from unauthorized entry by preventing engine from starting when system is armed. Other components include a warning indicator, transponder and Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

SKIM is also programmed with a unique "secret key" code and a security code. SKIM keeps secret code in memory and sends code over CCD data bus to PCM, which also stores code in memory. SKIM also sends code to each of "smart key" transponders. SKIM also stores Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
