Gauges Not Operating Properly

  1. Using scan tool, read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If any engine performance related codes are displayed, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - WRANGLER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no engine performance related codes are displayed, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Push and hold down trip odometer reset button. Turn ignition on. DO NOT start engine. Release trip odometer reset button. Compare operation of suspect gauge(s) with actuator test chart. See Fig 1 .
  3. Instrument cluster will exit self-diagnostics mode at completion of test, or if ignition switch is turned off. If instrument cluster gauge(s) and/or indicator light(s) do not respond properly during actuator test, replace instrument cluster. If all gauges and indicator lights function correctly, system is currently functioning correctly.
