Programming Blank Sentry Keys Using Scan Tool

  1. Once key blank is cut, insert key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  2. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, then SKIM. Select MISCELLANEOUS.
  3. Using scan tool, select PROGRAM NEW KEY.
  4. Enter 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) code. This number can be obtained from vehicle invoice or calling Chrysler customer center.
  5. When programming is completed, Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) will exit SECURED ACCESS mode and display status of key. One of 5 different status messages may be displayed.

    • PROGRAMMING SUCCESSFUL

This will be displayed if SKIM smart key programming succeeds.
    • LEARNED KEY IN IGNITION

This will be displayed if key in ignition has already been programmed into vehicle's SKIM.
    • 8 KEYS ALREADY LEARNED, PROGRAMMING NOT DONE

This will be displayed if 8 keys have already been programmed into SKIM. If a new key needs to be added due to a lost or defective key, ERASE ALL KEYS function has to be performed. Original 7 keys plus additional new key may then be reprogrammed into SKIM.
    • PROGRAMMING NOT ATTEMPTED

This will be displayed after an ERASE ALL KEYS function is executed.
    • PROGRAMING KEY FAILED

This will be displayed if transponder is faulty, or transponder is programmed for another vehicle.
  6. To program additional keys, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove current programmed key, then go to step  1 .
