Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Switch Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, select COMPASS/MINI-TRIP, INPUT/OUTPUT and monitor button display. If scan tool does not display any button pressed, go to next step. If scan tool displays all buttons pressed, replace CMTC push button module assembly. See COMPASS/MINI-TRIP COMPUTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Using scan tool, select COMPASS /MINI-TRIP, INPUTS/OUTPUTS then monitor button display. Observe scan tool display while pressing STEP button, then US/M button. If scan tool displays PRESSED with all buttons, test is complete. If scan tool does not display PRESSED with any button, replace CMTC push button module assembly. See COMPASS/MINI-TRIP COMPUTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
