Powertrain Control Module/Sentry Key Immobilizer Module
NOTE:
If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been replaced and correct Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and mileage have not be entered into new PCM, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) will set in Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Air Bag Control Module (ACM) and Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM). Secret key data must be updated prior to starting vehicle.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . For Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and air bag systems, enter correct VIN and current mileage into new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Use scan tool to erase ABS and ACM DTCs.
- For Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), connect scan tool and select THEFT ALARM, SKIM then MISCELLANEOUS. Place SKIM in secured access mode by using 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This number can be obtained from vehicle invoice or calling Chrysler customer center. Select UPDATE SECRET KEY DATA. SKIM data will automatically be transferred to PCM.
- Attempt to start engine. If engine starts and runs, programming is complete. If engine is unable to start, verify that programming procedure has been completed and check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSB).
