Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displays OC
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Remove ambient temperature sensor. Measure resistance between terminals (component side) at ambient temperature sensor. See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS
table. If resistance and temperature are as specified, go to next step. If resistance and temperature are not as specified, replace ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS
Temperature - °F (°C) Resistance 32 (0) 29.3-36 50 (10) 18-22 68 (20) 11.4-13.6 77 (25) 9.1-10.8 86 (30) 7.4-8.7 104 (40) 4.9-5.7 122 (50) 3.3-3.8 - Turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait one minute. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) at ambient temperature sensor harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) harness connector. See Figure . Measure resistance of Violet/Light Green wire between terminal No. 1 at ambient temperature sensor harness connector and terminal No. 4 at CMTC harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC. See COMPASS/MINI-TRIP COMPUTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
NOTE:
After ambient temperature sensor repair, vehicle must be driven for 3 miles above 25 MPH continuously to update CMTC display.
