Speedometer Not Operating Properly
Possible Causes are:
- ABS TIRE PROGRAMMING
- SPEEDOMETER INPUT PROBLEM
- INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
- Diagnose any PCM or Communication DTCs before proceeding with this test. Ensure that the ABS module is programmed with the correct tire size. Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test using the DRBIII(R), or manually using the following procedure: Turn ignition off. Press and hold the Trip Reset button. Turn ignition on. The Speedometer should position the indicator needle at the following calibration points: 0 MPH, 20 MPH, (25 MPH - UK, 40 KMH), 55 MPH (50 MPH - UK, 80 KMH), 75 MPH (75 MPH - UK, 120 KMH) and 110 MPH (110 MPH - UK, 230 KMH, 200 KMH AUS/JAPAN). Did the Speedometer operate correctly during the self test? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the instrument cluster. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER 1 under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using the DRBIII(R), verify that the ABS Tire Size is correctly programmed. Is the Tire Size programmed correctly? If yes, diagnose and repair related symptom(s). See appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER 1 under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, program the correct tire size and then verify that the Speedometer is working. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER 1 under VERIFICATION TESTS.
