Temperature Display Inaccurate Or Inoperative
Possible Causes are:
- AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- ELECTRONIC VEHICLE INFORMATION CENTER
- Diagnose and repair any BCM, EVIC, PCM, or Communication DTCs before proceeding with this test. The Ambient Temperature Sensor is hardwired to the BCM. Ambient temperature information is transmitted to the EVIC via the PCI Bus. Turn ignition off. Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector. Measure the resistance of the Ambient Temperature Sensor. See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
table. Is the Ambient Temperature Sensor resistance measurement within specifications? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the ambient temperature sensor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER 1
under VERIFICATION TESTS.AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
Temperature K/Ohms 50°F (10°C) 17.99-21.81 68°F (20°C) 11.37-13.61 77°F (25°C) 9.12-10.88 86°F (30°C) 7.37-8.75 104°F (40°C) 4.90-5.75 122°F (50°C) 3.33-3.88 - Perform the EVIC self test. Turn ignition off. Press and hold the C/T and Reset buttons. Turn ignition on. The self test can also be performed using the DRBIII(R). Observe the EVIC display at the conclusion of the self test. Does the EVIC display Passed Self Test? If yes, test is complete. If no, replace the EVIC. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER 1 under VERIFICATION TESTS.
