Theft Alarm Will Not Arm

Possible Causes are:

  1. Using the DRBIII(R), check that the Theft Alarm is enabled. Was the Theft Alarm enabled? If yes, go to next step. If no, Using the DRBIII(R), enable the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST 1A  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Make sure the liftgate, liftgate flip-up, hood and all doors are closed. Remove the key from the ignition. Using the DRBIII(R), read the active DTC's, ajar switch states, and the key-in ignition switch state. Does the DRBIII(R) display any closed switches or VTSS-related DTCS? If yes, diagnose and repair switch or DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  or SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  tables under RETRIEVING & CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST 1A  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, replace the Body Control Module. Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST 1A  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
