Any PCI Bus Indicator Inoperative

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), select System Monitors, then J1850 Module Scan. Does the DRBIII(R) display MIC PRESENT on the BUS? If yes, go to next step. If no, refer to COMMUNICATION in DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  or SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  table for the related symptom(s).
  2. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), select MIC, then MODULE DISPLAY Does the DRBIII(R) display NO RESPONSE from MIC? If yes, see BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  . If no, go to next step.
  3. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), select Body, MIC, MONITORS, PCI BUS MONITORS. Does the DRBIII(R) display PCM INACTIVE on the BUS? If yes, see NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS)  or NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (SCI ONLY)  . If no, go to next step.
  4. NOTE: Diagnose and repair any PCM or BCM DTCs before proceeding with this test.
  5. Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test. Depress and hold the Trip Odometer button while turning the ignition from the off to the on position. Observe the indicator in question. Did the indicator illuminate? If yes, See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - LIBERTY for self test. If no, replace the Instrument Cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - LIBERTY article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
