Low Wash Message Not Operating Properly

Possible Causes:

Testing

    NOTE: Ensure that the Washer Fluid reservoir is filled and the Fluid Level Switch connector is properly connected before proceeding with this test.
  1. Turn the ignition on and wait approximately one minute. Is the LOWASH message always displayed? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  3 .
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Washer Fluid Level Switch harness connector. Turn the ignition on and wait approximately one minute. Does the VF display LOWASH? If yes, repair the Low Washer Fluid Sense circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, replace the Washer Fluid Level Switch. See WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS - LIBERTY article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Washer Fluid Level Switch harness connector. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 1 and cavity 2. Turn the ignition on and wait approximately one minute. Does the VF display LOWASH? If yes, replace the Washer Fluid Level Switch. See WASHER FLUID LEVEL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS - LIBERTY article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, go to next step.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Washer Fluid Level Switch harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the Washer Fluid Level Switch Ground circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the Washer Fluid Level Switch Ground circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
  5. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Washer Fluid Level Switch harness connector. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector. Measure the resistance of the Low Washer Fluid Sense circuit. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? If yes, replace the Instrument Cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - LIBERTY article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, repair the Low Washer Fluid Sense circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  .
