No BCM Messages Received

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: When the ignition is turned On.
  2. Set Condition: No PCI Bus message received for 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on. No PCI Bus message is indicated by dashes in the VF display. When valid data is received, the data will replace the dashes.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. With the DRBIII(R), erase DTCs. Cycle the ignition and wait approximately one minute. With the DRBIII(R), read DTCs. Did this DTC reset? If yes, go to next step. If no, the condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIII(R) parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
  2. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), attempt to I/D or communicate with the BCM. Was the DRBIII(R) able to communicate with the BCM? If yes, replace the Compass Mini-Trip Computer. See OVERHEAD CONSOLES - LIBERTY for REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If no, refer to the COMMUNICATION category and perform the appropriate symptom.
