Rear Window Defogger Switch Indicator Inoperative
Possible Causes:
- Fused Rear Window Defogger Relay Output Circuit Shorted To Ground
- Fuse Block Fuse No. 17
- Fused Rear Window Defogger Relay Output Circuit Open
- Defogger Switch
Testing
- Check fuse No. 17 in fuse block, located on firewall next to glove box. If fuse is faulty, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 3 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear window defogger switch. Check resistance between rear window defogger switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue/Red wire) and ground. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground on Dark Blue/Red wire.
- Remove rear window defogger relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC), located in right side of engine compartment, next to battery. Install fuse No. 17 in fuse block. Check resistance between rear window defogger relay cavity terminal C3 and rear window defogger switch harness connector terminal No. 3. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire, fuse block and/or Black/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace rear window defogger switch.
