Panel Dimming Inoperative
NOTE:
Ensure headlights, park lights and other instrument cluster functions operate properly before performing test.
Possible Causes:
- Instrument Cluster Panel Dimming DTC
- Park Lamp Feed Circuit Open
- Illumination Bulb
- Instrument Cluster
Testing
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER and check DTCs. If PANEL DIMMER OPEN is not displayed, go to next step. If PANEL DIMMER OPEN is displayed, go to PANEL DIMMER OPEN .
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn on park lights. Check voltage between instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit on Orange wire.
- Remove suspect cluster illumination bulb(s). If bulb(s) are faulty, replace bulbs. If bulb(s) are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
