Any PCI Bus Indicator Inoperative

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS and J1850 MODULE SCAN. If scan tool displays MIC PRESENT on bus, go to next step. If scan tool does not display MIC PRESENT on bus, go to BUS (+) &/OR BUS (-) OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  2. Using scan tool, select BODY, MIC and MODULE DISPLAY. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE from MIC, go to next step. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE from MIC, go to BUS (+) &/OR BUS (-) OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under COMMUNICATIONS.
  3. Using scan tool, select BODY, MIC SYSTEM TESTS and PCM MONITOR. If scan tool does not display PCM INACTIVE on Bus, go to next step. If scan tool displays PCM INACTIVE on Bus, go to NO RESPONSE FROM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCI BUS)  under COMMUNICATIONS.
    NOTE: Diagnose and repair any PCM DTCs before proceeding.
  4. Perform instrument cluster self-diagnostic actuator test. See VACUUM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY SELF-DIAGNOSTIC ACTUATOR TEST under SYSTEM TESTS in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - WRANGLER article. If suspect indicator illuminates during self test, diagnose and repair related system. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - WRANGLER article. If indicator does not illuminate during self test, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
