Ignition Control: Description

The ignition systems used on both the 2.4L 4-cylinder and 4.0L 6-cylinder engines are a distributorless type.

The ignition system consists of:

• Spark Plugs
• Spark Plug Cables (secondary wires)
• Ignition Coil(s)
• Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
• Crankshaft Position Sensor
• Camshaft Position Sensor
• The MAP, TPS, IAC and ECT also have an effect on the control of the ignition system.
