The camshaft position sensor is mounted on top of the cylinder head cover. The sensor detects the camshaft position by a voltage reference signal. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects Top Dead Center (TDC) position of cylinder 1 by means of the voltage supplied by the camshaft sensor. Injection timing is synchronized by means of the camshaft signal and the crankshaft signal.
