Sensor, Seat Track Position: Removal: Removal
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further service.
- Reach under the front seat cushion to access the Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS) (2) on a bracket located on the outboard side near the rear of the upper outboard seat track (3).
- Using a small screwdriver, hold the latch feature (4) depressed while sliding the connector end of the STPS off of the bracket.
- Disconnect the seat wire harness connector (1) from the STPS connector receptacle.
- Remove the STPS from under the front seat.
