Diesel Engine

CAUTION:

When removing the radiator or A/C condenser for any reason, note the location of all radiator-to-body and radiator-to-A/C condenser rubber air seals. These are used at the top, bottom and sides of the radiator and A/C condenser. To prevent overheating, these seals must be installed to their original positions.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Recover the A/C refrigerant. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the radiator crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, RADIATOR, REMOVAL .

  5. Loosen the clamp (1) and remove the lower right Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose (2) from the cooler.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  7. Loosen the clamp (2) and remove the lower left CAC hose (1) from the cooler.
  8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  9. Remove the right side CAC bolts (1).

  10. Remove the bolts (2) and the CAC (1).
  11. Remove the push pin fasteners and the right and left side air deflectors.

  12. Remove the nuts (3, 5) the A/C lines (2, 4) from the condenser.

  13. Remove the bolt (1) securing the condenser lines to the radiator.

  14. On automatic transmission models, remove the bolt (1) and the transmission cooler lines (3) to the transmission cooler (4).
  15. Remove the bolts and position aside the windshield washer bottle.

  16. Remove the coolant hose (2) from the fan shroud (1).
  17. Remove the fasteners (3) and the upper fan shroud (1).

  18. Remove the four bolts (2) securing the fan shroud (1).

  19. Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1).

  20. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle hose (1) from the radiator.
  21. Remove the upper radiator hose (2).

  22. Remove the lower radiator hose (1).
  23. Lift the radiator up and out of vehicle taking care not to damage radiator fins.

  24. Remove the bolts (4) and the transmission cooler (5).
  25. Remove the bolts (3) and the A/C condenser (2) from the radiator (1).
