Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the steering column (3) in the vehicle.
  2. Install the two front steering column support bolts (2) and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the two rear steering column support nuts (1) and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the intermediate shaft (2) to the steering gear.
  5. Install a NEW  intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. If equipped install the driver knee airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, KNEE BLOCKER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the driver knee bolster (Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
