Module, Fuel Pump: Installation
CAUTION:
Whenever the fuel pump module is serviced, the rubber O-ring seal must be replaced.
- Using a NEW O-ring seal, position fuel pump module into opening in fuel tank.
- Position lock ring (5) over top of fuel pump module.
- Rotate module until embossed alignment arrow points to center alignment mark. This step must be performed to prevent float from contacting side of fuel tank.
- Install the SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) tool (3) onto the lock ring.
- Install a 1/2 inch drive breaker (1) onto SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) tool (3).
- Tighten the lock ring (clockwise) until all seven notches have engaged.
- Install the fuel tank. Refer to TANK, FUEL, INSTALLATION .
- Fill the fuel tank with clean diesel fuel.
