Module, Fuel Pump: Removal
- The 2.8L Diesel fuel pump module (2) is located on the top of fuel tank.
- Drain the fuel tank Refer to DRAINING FUEL TANK .
- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to TANK, FUEL, REMOVAL .
- Note rotational position of module before attempting removal. An indexing arrow is located on top of module for this purpose.
- Install the SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) tool (3) into notches on outside edge of lock ring (5).
- Install a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar (1) onto the SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) tool (3).
- Rotate breaker bar counter-clockwise to remove the lock ring.NOTE:
The module will spring up slightly when lock ring is removed.
- Remove the lock ring.
- Remove the fuel pump module from fuel tank and be careful not to bend float arm while removing.
