Fan, Cooling: Installation: Diesel

  1. Assemble fan blade onto viscous fan drive. Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

    NOTE:

    The viscous fan and fan shroud must be installed as an assembly.

  2. Position fan drive assembly and fan shroud, thread the fan drive assembly onto the drive pulley. Using the (special tool #6958, Wrench, Spanner) and (special tool #8346, Pins, Adapter) (2) and suitable fan wrench, tighten the fan to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.).

  3. Install the fan shroud to radiator mounting bolts (2) and tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).

  4. Connect the viscous fan wire harness connector (1).
  5. Install the fan assembly into the lower support mounts. Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).

  6. Install the upper fan seal.
  7. Install the upper fan shroud (1). Tighten the bolts (3) to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).
  8. Install the coolant hose (2) to fan shroud (1).
  9. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
