Removal And Installation: LHD: Installation

  1. Carefully guide the steering column shaft through the bulkhead, then connect the steering column lock module wire harness connector (1) if equipped.

  2. Position the steering column mounting holes over the steering column studs and start the four steering column nuts (1) finger tight.
    CAUTION:

    Lower nuts must be installed and tightened first then the upper nuts in order to prevent damage to the capsules.

  3. Tighten the four steering column nuts (1) to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Secure the wiring harness routing clip (2) to the steering column.
  5. Install the gap hider. Refer to GAP HIDER, STEERING COLUMN SHROUD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Install the steering wheel. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the upper end of the intermediate shaft to the steering column shaft. Refer to SHAFT, INTERMEDIATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION .
