Tank, Fuel: Installation

  1. If fuel tank was replaced, install heat shield to the fuel tank.
    WARNING:

    Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or the fuel tank to fall from the jack.

  2. Position fuel tank onto a transmission jack or equivalent and raise the fuel tank into vehicle position.

  3. Install the right fuel tank strap (2). Tighten the rear bolt (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
  4. Install the left fuel tank strap (3). Tighten the rear bolt (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).

  5. Install the right front fuel tank strap bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).

  6. Install the left front fuel tank strap bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).
  7. Remove the transmission jack.
  8. Install the fuel line shield. Tighten nuts to the proper torque specification. Refer to (TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ).

  9. Install fuel filler tube (3) to the fuel tank (1). Hand tighten the clamp (2).
  10. Install the exhaust system. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  11. Lower the vehicle.

  12. Connect the fuel supply line (3) to the fuel pump module.
  13. Connect the fuel tank vapor line (1, 2) to the fuel pump module.
  14. Connect fuel pump/module electrical connector (2).

  15. Connect the fuel pump module wire harness connector (2, 6). Install the access cover (3, 4) and hand tighten the bolts.
  16. Install the rear seat assembly. Refer to SEAT, REAR, INSTALLATION .
  17. Fill fuel tank and install fuel filler cap.
  18. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  19. Use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.
