Steering System: Gear: Installation: Notes

NOTE:

Transfer the tie rod ends if they are being reused.

NOTE:

If removed, install the power transfer unit . Refer to INSTALLATION .

Position the dash seal (2) to the steering gear, then install and tighten the dash seal bolt (1).

Position the heat shield (2) to the steering gear, then install the steering gear heat shield bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Position the steering gear to the crossmember.
Install the steering gear mounting bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install the front suspension crossmember. Refer to INSTALLATION .
If a NEW steering gear is installed, the Electric Power Steering (EPS) learn procedure is required. Refer to EPS LEARN PROCEDURE .
