Diagnosis And Testing - Power Windows
Check for an open fuse causing the window system to not operate.
The Local Interface Network (LIN) slave node operation that is integral and internal to the door control switch requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool to monitor door control switch commands when in use through the Body Control Module (BCM). Always check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the Body Control Module (BCM). If any are found, test and repair first then verify the window operation.
Use the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to determine and test the appropriate circuits relative to the door window motor. These circuits include window hall sensor supply, window switch enable circuit, ground circuit and LIN 3 bus circuits. Inspect harness connections, component connections and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension
