Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
3. Test drive the vehicle in Start/Stop mode. Make several complete stops, and Auto-Restart attempts.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
  Is the DTC active or pending?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform the INTERMITTENT DTC diagnostic procedure. Refer to appropriate DTC information .
CHECK THE FUSES, BATTERY AND STARTER CONNECTIONS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Inspect the Fuses, Battery Cables, Posts and Starter Motor connections for signs of corrosion or a poor connection.
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the appropriate repair.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE BATTERY
1. Using the Midtronics Battery Charger/Tester, check the condition of the Battery.
  Did the Battery test good?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 4
  No
  - Replace the Battery in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BATTERY, SUPPLEMENTAL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM
1. Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM (HARD START) .
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the appropriate repair.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 5
CHECK THE ENGINE MECHANICAL CONDITION
1. Perform the CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM .
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the appropriate repair.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Starter Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to STARTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
