Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

The following procedure is for replacement of an ineffective or damaged side curtain airbag (also known as Side AirBag Inflatable Curtain/SABIC). If the airbag is ineffective or damaged, but not deployed, review the recommended procedures for Handling Non-Deployed Supplemental Restraints. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE . If the side curtain airbag has been deployed, review the recommended procedures for Service After A Supplemental Restraint Deployment before removing the airbag from the vehicle. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  1. Position the SABIC (2) into the vehicle as a unit. Be certain that the SABIC is not twisted.
  2. Install the screws (1) that secure the SABIC to the inner roof rail above the front, rear door openings, and the rear tether to the rear of the inner roof rail. Tighten the screws to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Connect the body wire harness connector (3) for the SABIC to the connector receptacle of the inflator above the front door opening.

  4. Install the screws (4) that secure the SABIC (1) and the front tether (2) to the inner A-pillar and front inner roof rail. Tighten the screws to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Engage the front two retaining clips (3) to the inner A-pillar.
  6. Install the headliner into the vehicle. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Do not connect the negative battery cable at this time. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Verification Test procedure should be performed following service of any SRS component. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
