Engine Cooling System Overheating
Establish what driving conditions caused the complaint. Abnormal loads on the cooling system such as the following may be the cause:
- Prolonged idle in a confined location
- Very high ambient temperature
- Slow traffic
- Traffic jams
- High speed or steep grades
- Trailer towing
- Debris on front of the grill or the cooling module that are restricting airflow
NOTE:
Idling the engine with A/C off may be a driving technique that avoids overheating.
