Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  2

    No 

  2. TEST THE GPS ANTENNA CABLE 
    1. Disconnect the Satellite/GPS Antenna cable at the Satellite Antenna.
    2. Connect the appropriate Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) to the GPS Antenna cable at the back of the EAM.
    3. Connect the appropriate Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) to the GPS Antenna cable at the GPS Antenna base.
    4. Measure the Resistance across the terminals on the tool.

      Is the resistance below 47.5 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Use the (special tool #9977-6, Kit, Radio Antenna Diagnostic) to locate the short, repair or replace the GPS Antenna cable as necessary.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE MODULE (EAM) 
    1. Visually inspect the terminals on the EAM.
    2. Ensure the terminal is clean and free of any corrosion or damage.
      • Is the terminal free of corrosion and damage?

      Yes 

      No
