Upstream O2 Sensors

NOTE:

The upstream O2 sensors and connectors can be accessed from the top side of the engine.

WARNING:

The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.

CAUTION:

When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.

  1. Disconnect the O2 sensor(s) electrical connectors located behind the cylinder head(s).
  2. Using the appropriate oxygen sensor removal/installation tool, remove the O2 sensor(s).
  3. Clean the threads in the exhaust pipe(s) using an appropriate tap.
