Sensor, Oxygen: Removal: 6.2L: Upstream
WARNING:
The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE
.CAUTION:
When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1) and remove the harness from the retainer (2).
- Remove the oxygen sensor (3) from the exhaust manifold.
- Clean the threads in the exhaust pipes using an appropriate tap.
