- Steering column
- Rack and pinion steering gear
- EPS module
- Inner and Outer tie rod ends
- Intermediate shaft
The steering gear is the rack-and-pinion type with Electric Power Assist (EPA). It is mounted on the front suspension cradle. The only serviceable parts of the steering gear are the inner tie rods, outer tie rods, and the inner tie rod bellows.
The EPS system is only serviced as an assembly.
NOTE:
The EPS system is a dry gear system. The EPS system does not contain any hydraulic components such as:
- a belt-driven hydraulic pump.
- any high-pressure hydraulic hoses.
- power steering fluid.
The EPS system will not experience a hydraulic leak. If fluid is detected at the front of the vehicle, on or near the steering gear, investigate other systems.
NOTE:
If a NEW steering gear is installed, programming is required Refer to EPS VERIFICATION TEST .
