Fan, Cooling: Removal: 6.2L
CAUTION:
Care must be used when trying to remove the upper and lower shroud covers. Damaging the holes in the cover may cause it to become loose and not perform properly.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to CABLES, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Remove the air intake assembly.
- Raise and support the vehicle.NOTE:
The lower shroud cover needs to be removed in order to remove the cooling fan assembly from the mounting tabs.
- If equipped, remove the lower engine shield.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING .
- Remove the lower shroud cover (4) by using a pick (2) to pull the cover retaining hole away from the clip (3) along the bottom of the cooling fan assembly (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the bolt (2) that mounts the upper A/C line support bracket (3) to the front radiator support.
- Remove the nut (2) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (3) to the rear section of the A/C liquid line (1).
- Disconnect the electric fan wire harness connector (1).NOTE:
The cooling fan assembly is held in place by clips that are part of the radiator. Care must be used to not damage the clips during fan removal.
- Remove the shroud (3) assembly from the vehicle by pressing the locking clips (2) inwards with a flat blade screwdriver.
- Pull the fan/shroud assembly upwards and away from the radiator with the upper cooling fan assembly shroud cover in place.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove the upper fan shroud cover (1) by using a pick (3) to pull the cover retaining hole away from the clip (2).
