3.0L Diesel

CAUTION:

Before installing the radiator or A/C condenser, be sure the radiator-to-body and radiator-to-A/C condenser rubber air seals are properly fastened to their original positions. These are used at the top, bottom and sides of the radiator and A/C condenser. To prevent overheating, these seals must be installed to their original positions.

  1. If removed, install the cooling fan assembly and engage both retaining tabs (1).

  2. Carefully install the radiator (1) into the vehicle. Guide the two radiator rubber air seals into the lower radiator support.

  3. Install the cooling fan assembly and engage both lock tabs (1).

  4. Connect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  6. Install the lower cooling fan closeout panel (1).
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  8. Install the upper radiator hose (1).

  9. Carefully install the A/C condenser into the radiator mounts and engage the two retaining tabs (1) and (2).

  10. Connect both of the transmission cooler lines (1).

  11. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser ports.
  12. Lubricate NEW  seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them on the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified seals as they are made of a special material for the refrigerant used in the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
  13. Connect the A/C liquid jumper line (5) and A/C discharge line (4) to the A/C condenser (1).
  14. Install the nut (6) that secures the A/C discharge and liquid jumper line to the A/C condenser. Tighten the nut to 20 N. m (15 ft. lbs.).
  15. Install the Charge Air Cooler (CAC). Refer to the appropriate service information .
  16. Install the radiator crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, RADIATOR, INSTALLATION .

  17. Install the lower radiator hose (1).
  18. Fill the cooling system. Refer to COOLANT SYSTEM AIR EVACUATION  .
  19. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  20. Install the front skid plate. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22. Start the engine and check for leaks.
