On Board Documentation Conformity
  • Check presence and completeness of the vehicle documents;
  • Check that the container for the accessories to be applied to the vehicle is intact, and check that the contents are as required.
  • Check the availability of Service Contracts and prepare the documentation (if provided)
  • Place the vehicle documents in the document wallet and put it in the relevant compartment
  • Check for presence of informative material (leaflet, Tip Card or the like) to be applied to the rear-view mirror and proceed if necessary. Refer to LEAFLET INSERTION .
Diagnostics
  • Deactivate LOGISTIC MODE. Depending on the model, this operation may be done in one of the following ways:
    • using the diagnostic equipment
    • by refitting the relevant fuse (when done put the cover on the fuse compartment and check that the cover is correctly aligned with the adjoining surfaces)
  • Deactivate the power limiter (if provided)
  • Connect to the diagnosis equipment, and document and correct any problems found (at this stage, ignore any error message on the infotainment display due to the Uconnect / Alfa Connect Box activation procedure in progress)
  • Connect to the diagnosis equipment, check for any relevant campaigns and execute them
Safety systems
  • Check that the active safety systems are activated
ENGINE COMPARTMENT
Visually inspect the engine compartment
  • Check and document any visible damage to the engine compartment
Battery (refer to TSB 08-073-17)
  • Print the battery status check result ticket and/or ESS auxiliary battery (if provided) and archive it together with the PDI checklist (refer to TSB 08-073-17)
  • Check that the battery clamps are fitted correctly. Check that the terminal cover or fuse box (where provided) is fitted on the positive terminal, and check that the connector is fully inserted and that the safety catch is latched correctly on the negative terminal (for versions equipped with the Start & Stop system). Tighten any loose fasteners.
Fluid level check
  • Check the fluid levels in the following systems and top up if necessary:
    • engine lubrication
    • cooling
    • brakes/clutch
    • power steering

    N.B.: if the level is too low, check the system for damage.

  • Top up the windshield washer liquid if necessary
  • Check that all the caps in the engine compartment are closed correctly
Endothermic engine operation
  • Start the engine, and make sure that it does so immediately and without hesitation.
  • Check engine idling. There must be no uneven running, strange noises or abnormal smells.
VEHICLE EXTERIOR
Movable parts and access to the vehicle
  • Check that the doors, tailgate (or luggage compartment doors), fuel flap and/or charging socket flap (if provided) open and close without noises and/or vibrations (knocking, squeaks, etc.)
  • Check that the opening mechanisms of the tailgate (including hands-free opt., if present) or the boot operate correctly
  • Check that the locks and handles of all the doors work correctly using the mechanical key (if provided); check operation of keyless entry (if provided)
  • Operate the rear door child lock and check that it functions; make sure that the child lock is then disabled
  • Check all the remote control functions from a distance of 5-10 meters
Wheels and tires
  • Top up the tire pressure according to the specific requirements given in the Owner Handbook (or on the plate inside the car):
    • front axle tires: (*)
    • rear axle tires: (*)
    • spare wheel tire: (*)

    (*) Note the adjustment value and confirm.

  • RESET the tire pressure monitoring system, T.P.M.S. indirect, using the dedicated button. Refer to TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING, DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION . If there is a direct T.P.M.S system, check that the values indicated on the instrument panel correspond with the noted values.
Radio aerial
  • Check that the radio aerial is fitted; if necessary, fit it and make sure that it is positioned and fixed correctly
Optional extras/customizations
  • Install exterior completion kit (if provided)
VEHICLE INTERIOR
Control panel
  • Remove the protective film from the screen (if present)
  • Make sure that the units of measurement are consistent with the country of sale.
  • Check the time, date and language and set the correct parameters if necessary
Odometer
  • Reset the trip meter
  • Reset the total odometer, making sure that the letter "H" does not appear on the instrument panel, where provided. Refer to RESETTING THE TOTAL VEHICLE MILEAGE INDICATOR .
  • Make sure that the total and trip mileage of the navigation device corresponds to that shown on the instrument panel
Warning lights
  • Check that there are no failure/emergency lights on (or warning/error messages) with the engine running
  • Check that the AdBlue low level warning light is not on (top up if necessary)
Infotainment system
  • Remove the protective film from the screen (if present)
  • Check that the introductory screen is correct and the image is correctly centered on the screen
  • Check the time, date and language and set the correct parameters if necessary
  • Make sure that the units of measurement are consistent with the country of sale and those shown on the instrument panel
  • Turn on the radio and sound system and check that all the speakers are working
Hazard warning lights
  • Check that the emergency lights (external lights, illumination of button in cockpit - if provided - and warning lights on instrument panel) operate correctly
Exterior lighting
  • Check the operation of all the external lighting devices (external lights and relative indicator light in cockpit):
    • DRL
    • Side lights
    • Direction indicators
    • Low beam headlights
    • Full beam headlights
    • Front fog lights
    • Reversing lights
    • Rear fog lights
    • Registration plate lights
    • Brake lights
Interior lighting
  • Check operation of all interior lighting devices:
    • Front dome/spotlight
    • Rear dome light
    • Rear door courtesy lights
    • Puddle lights
    • Drawer light
  • Check that the passenger compartment ceiling light switches are in neutral position (lights on when the doors are opened)
Airbag
  • Check that when the passenger airbag is deactivated, the relative amber warning light comes on.
Windshield and rear window washers and wipers and headlight washers
  • Remove any labels from the windshield and/or windows and clean away any glue residues
  • Check that the windshield wipers and rear window wipers (if provided) are undamaged and operating correctly
  • Check operation of spray jets of the windshield washer and rear window washer (if provided) and the headlight washer
  • Check the windshield wiper operates correctly in all modes (on-off, slow and fast) and its effect (no smears, residual marks, etc.)
  • Check the rear window wiper (if provided) operates correctly in all modes (on-off, normal and, if present, when reverse gear is engaged with windshield wiper operating) and its effect (no smears, residual marks, etc.)
Electric Parking Brake
  • Check that the electric handbrake is operating correctly
Horns
  • Press the horn twice in various positions and check its operation
Electric windows
  • Check raising and lowering of the windows, including automatic (if provided); perform the specific initialization procedure if necessary
Sun roof
  • Operate the sunroof in all the positions (opening/closing/tilting)
  • Ensure that the aerodynamic deflector opens correctly
  • Check that the sun blind travels freely
Electric door mirrors
  • Check operation of the electric rearview mirrors by moving them both in all directions
  • Check the retraction of the external mirrors (where provided)
Heating and/or climate control check
  • Check operation (adjustment, opening and closing) of all the ventilation vents Operate the fan, switching it to all speeds, and check for abnormal noises or odors during operation.
Check the seats, seats belts and main operations
  • Check that all the seats travel smoothly on their runners and the operation of the adjustment mechanisms (including reclining and tipping, if provided)
  • Check that the seat upholstery (covers and stitching) is intact and free from dirt or stains
  • Check operation of the head restraint (extension and, if present, reclining)
  • Check operation of the seat belts (smooth, unimpeded travel, correct fastening and smooth rewinding)
  • Check operation of the seat belt not fastened warning lights
Optional extras/customizations
  • Install interior completion kit (if provided)
Inspection of interior (cockpit and boot)
  • Make a visual inspection of the inside of the cockpit and boot (especially front, central and rear pillars, roof liner, door panel, and dashboard and instrument panel trim, checking that there are no stains, scratches, dents, cracks or loose components
  • Check operation of the dashboard drawers/doors (opening/closing) and check that the fronts are flush with the dashboard surface when closed.
  • Check that there no unrelated objects have been left underneath the boot mat (or in the under-floor compartment)
  • In the boot, check that the tire repair kit (or spare wheel) is present and correct and that the tool kit and tow hook (where provided) are present, and correctly positioned.
VEHICLE UNDER-BODY CHECK
Underbody
  • Make a visual inspection to ensure that the underbody is undamaged and in good condition, without removing any guards
  • Check that there are no loose/unsecured parts
Driveshaft gaiters
  • Visually inspect the condition of the various driveshaft gaiters (breaks, marks, leaks, etc.)
Brakes
  • Check the disc brake guards for looseness/deformation/damage and check the hoses for damage
Exhaust system
  • Check the exhaust system for damage; inspect the mountings for any abnormal play/looseness
FINAL CHECK
Connected Services
Wheel rim covers or hub caps
  • Fit the wheel rim covers (if provided - for steel plate wheels)
  • Fit the hub caps (if provided - for alloy wheels)
Remove the parts relating to transport
  • Remove the removable/transport seals and guards and the visible external labels. Pay special attention to any clear films applied to chrome parts (e.g. window trims)
Vehicle cleaning (exterior and interior)
  • Wash the vehicle and check for water leaks. Refer to WATER LEAKS .
  • Dry the vehicle
  • Clean the passenger compartment, windows, door mirrors and seats
Visually inspect the exterior of the vehicle
  • Check for any scratches, rust and other problems relating to paint work
  • Check for any missing or incorrect combination of colored parts
  • Check that the wax (and/or film) has been completely removed Check that there are no glue remnants and remove them if necessary.
  • Check that there are no stains etc. on the vehicle
  • Check the alignment of the decorative moldings
  • Check the alignment of the body panels (cracks, edges)
Mats
  • Check that the mats are present (and install them if necessary). Check that they are correctly positioned, and fixed to the floor when envisaged
