Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the steering column (1b) to the vehicle. Install the steering column to dash frame bolts (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  2. Install the steering column to dash frame nuts (4) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect the EPS wire harness connectors (1).
  4. Install and tighten the ground cable bolt (2).

  5. Install the intermediate shaft (1b) to the steering gear.
  6. Install a NEW  intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1a) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install the driver knee airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, KNEE BLOCKER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the sentry key antenna. Refer to ANTENNA, SENTRY KEY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the steering wheel. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
