Sensor, Oxygen: Removal: 3.2L: Front

The engine is equipped with four heated Oxygen (O2) sensors:

WARNING:

The exhaust pipes and catalytic converter become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor.

CAUTION:

When disconnecting the oxygen sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wire going into the sensor. The sensor wiring can be damaged resulting in sensor failure.

  1. Disconnect the heated O2 sensor wire harness connectors (1).
  2. Remove the upstream O2 sensor (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .

  5. Disconnect the heated O2 sensor electrical connector (2).
  6. Remove the downstream O2 sensor (3).
  7. Clean the exhaust pipe threads using an appropriate tap.
