Removal And Installation: Installation

CAUTION:
Propeller shaft installation is a two-person operation. Never allow propeller shaft to hang from the center bearing, or while only connected to the transmission or rear axle flanges. A helper is required. If a propeller shaft section is hung unsupported, damage may occur to the shaft, coupler, and center bearing from over-angulation. This may result in driveline vibrations or component failure.
- If removed, install the Rear Driveline Module (RDM) actuator and tighten the screws.
- Raise the RDM (1a) into position and tighten the through bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the front RDM mounting bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the hydraulic lift.
- Install the driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the differential actuator wire harness connector.NOTE:
If replacing the RDM, it is necessary to record the last two characters of the code in the area indicated (a) of the new RDM for performing the self learning procedure.
- When replacing the RDM connect the diagnostic scan tool, enter Miscellaneous Functions of the DriveTrain Control Module (DTCM) and run the self-learning procedure for the RDM.
- Check and correct the fluid level in the RDM. Refer to FLUID, DIFFERENTIAL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Install the rear stabilizer bar. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, REAR SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the rear halfshafts. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
