Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the intermediate shaft (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Slide the intermediate shaft coupler over steering gear input shaft.
  3. Slide the intermediate shaft coupler over steering column output shaft.
  4. Install a NEW  intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Place the steering wheel in a position which allows access to the intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt (1).
  6. Install a NEW  intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Position the steering column (3) to the instrument panel.
  8. Install the two front steering column support bolts (2) and tighten them to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the two rear steering column support nuts (1) and tighten them to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
