Ground Circuits

  1. Locate ECM behind center of instrument panel, in front of center console. Using a DVOM, check for continuity to ground on terminals No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire), No. 2 (Black/Red wire), No. 14 (Black/White wire) and No. 15 (Black/Red wire) of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. See Figure . If continuity does not exist at any terminal, repair open to ground in appropriate wire.
  2. Using a voltmeter, touch negative lead of voltmeter to a good ground. Touch positive lead of voltmeter to each ground terminal. With engine running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is one volt or more, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead.
