Code 03: No G-Signal

  1. Check distributor connector for poor connection. Clean or repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check if Code 02 is also present. If Code 02 is present, go to next step. If Code 02 is not present, go to step 5).
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/Red wire) of distributor connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Black/Red wire between ground and distributor connector.
  4. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (White/Red wire) of distributor connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in wiring between distributor connector and main relay.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity of Yellow/Green wire between terminals No. 4 of distributor connector and No. 4 of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Yellow/Green wire.
  6. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Green wire) of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. If voltage is zero or 4.5-5.5 volts, replace distributor. If voltage is not zero or 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect distributor connector. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Green wire) of ECM C249 (26-pin) connector. If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, locate and repair short in wiring between ECM connector and distributor connector. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, replace ECM.
