ABS Warning Light Test

  1. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 9 (Yellow wire). If battery voltage is not present, check Yellow wire for an open or short from connector to junction connector No. 14, and from junction connector No. 14 to METER fuse (10-amp), located in passenger compartment fuse box. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off and go to next step.
  2. Check for ground at instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 8 (Brown/Red wire). If ground does not exist, check Brown/Red wire for an open from instrument cluster harness connector to ABS warning module. Repair as necessary. If ground exists, go to next step.
  3. Check for ground at terminal No. 2 (Black wire) of ABS warning module harness 6-pin connector. See Fig 1 . If ground does not exist, check Black wire for an open from connector to ground, located behind left side of instrument panel, near Electronic Time Control Module (ETCM). Repair as necessary. If ground exists, go to next step.
  4. Remove ABS warning module and check continuity between module terminals No. 4 (Brown/Red wire) and terminal No. 2 (Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity between module terminals does not exist, replace module. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  5. Check continuity from instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 8 (Brown/Red wire) to ABS warning light socket. Check continuity from terminal No. 9 (Yellow wire) to ABS warning light socket. If continuity does not exist in either circuit, replace instrument cluster.
