Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
SPARK PLUG CABLES TEST1. While the engine is idling, disconnect each spark plug cable one at a time to check whether the engine's running performance changes or not.
WARNING: A suitable pair of industrial rubber gloves should be worn when disconnecting the cables. Do not use household cleaning gloves.
2. If the engine performance does not change, check the resistance of the spark plug, and check the spark plug itself.
3. Check the cap and outer shell for cracks.
4. Measure the resistance.
NOTE: Resistance should not be higher than 10,000 ohm-per foot of cable. If resistance is higher, replace the cable.
